Bayou Bend Health System is Hiring a Chief Nursing Officer (Franklin, LA) Near Franklin, LA

The primary function of this position is to plan, organize, direct, and control all aspects ofthe Nursing Service Departments.ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP:
  • The Chief Nursing Officer reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer.
  • The Chief Nursing Officer works closely with the hospital’s Administrative Team. This includes the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Director of Human Resources and the Director of Quality Resources on a regular basis.
  • The following departments report directly to the Chief Nursing Officer: All Nursing Departments, Quality and Risk Management, Respiratory, Employee Health/Education/ Diabetic Education and Nursing staff employed in the FFH’s physician’ clinics.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Oversees development of reporting departments’ goals and objectives, and in conjunction with each department manager/supervisor, establishes and implements policies and procedures for department operations to work in conjunction and at all times with, the overall goals and objectives of the hospital.
  • Develops and implements an effective and ongoing program to measure, analyze and improve the quality of nursing care, treatment, and services. Understanding that part of quality care is providing safe quality care.
  • In conjunction with the department managers/supervisors, oversees the development of department budgets and ensures that departments operate within said budget.
  • Prepares periodic reports for the CEO relating to department objectives and performances.
  • Develops policies and procedures designed to ensure appropriate and cooperative functioning of the departments providing Nursing services. Ensures that departments conform to appropriate legal and regulatory requirements, including Joint Commission.
  • Recommends changes for improvements in Nursing services and in short/long-range planning in order to maintain competitiveness in the health care market.
  • Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations to keep abreast of the latest trend in field of expertise.
  • Participates in hospital medical staff committee meetings required. Attends and serves on professional/civic service organizations as a hospital representative.
  • Participates in department meetings and ensures weekly dialogue with department managers.
  • Provide performance feedback that supports employee development through ​-appraisal and formal supervisor appraisal of performance.
  • Annually evaluates and updates subordinates job descriptions.
  • Responsible for identifying and initiating necessary action to resolve problems.
  • ​​​Continuously reviews the productivity of each department and efficiency of staff and monitors employees’ hours worked versus non-productive time.
  • Assures appropriate staffing levels for departments and assures the appropriate training is maintained.
  • Assures that teamwork is practiced in each department.
​​​​​​​EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s degree in science as an RN with 5 years of various clinical experiences as well as MBA/MHA/MSN required.
  • Three years’ experience as a CNO.
  • Thorough knowledge of Nursing services and applicable regulatory agencies.
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Louisiana.
